DStv Decoder Now ₦10,000: MultiChoice Slashes Prices to Win Over More Nigerians

In a major move aimed at increasing access to quality digital entertainment, MultiChoice Nigeria has slashed the price of its DStv decoder by 50%. The decoder, which previously sold for ₦20,000, will now cost just ₦10,000. This new offer includes a DStv HD decoder, a satellite dish, and one month of free viewing on the Compact package.

The company also announced a “free upgrade” promotion running until July 31, 2025. With this promo, new and existing subscribers who pay for a lower package will be automatically upgraded to a higher one for a month at no extra cost. For example, if a customer subscribes to the Confam bouquet, they will be upgraded to the Compact package free for that month.

This new pricing strategy comes at a time when many Nigerians are battling economic hardship, with inflation driving up the cost of living. By reducing the decoder price, MultiChoice aims to ease the burden on consumers and attract a wider audience to its platform. A Nigerian woman, identified as @dunchichi on Twitter, has been reportedly sentenced to a one-year jail term by the United Arab Emirates government for a social media post, showing how some Nigerian nationals were illegally detained at Dubai international airport.  On August 31, Lar had taken to her  Twitter  page to share photos and videos of herself and other people she identified as Nigerians being detained at the Dubai international airport.
