Favour Ofili Reaffirms Loyalty to Nigeria Amid Rumours of Switch

In a time where athlete nationality switches are becoming more common, Nigerian sprint sensation Favour Ofili has made it clear that she remains committed to representing Nigeria on the global stage. The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, firmly dismissed the rumours during a recent press briefing. He confirmed that Ofili has not initiated any move to change her nationality and continues to fly the Nigerian flag proudly. According to Olopade, Ofili’s recent engagements with Nigerian sports authorities, including receiving financial support through a national training grant in April, further affirm her dedication to her homeland.

A Nigerian woman, identified as @dunchichi on Twitter, has been reportedly sentenced to a one-year jail term by the United Arab Emirates government for a social media post, showing how some Nigerian nationals were illegally detained at Dubai international airport.  On August 31, Lar had taken to her  Twitter  page to share photos and videos of herself and other people she identified as Nigerians being detained at the Dubai international airport. She wrote,  “I am at the Dubai international airport and myself and some tiger Nigerians with valid visas are being held in a room hours after arriving with no explanation and no information on what we can do.
