President Tinubu Departs Nigeria for Japan and Brazil

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has left Abuja for a two-nation working visit that will see him participate in high-profile diplomatic and economic engagements.

According to the Presidency, the trip’s first leg will take him to Japan, where he is expected to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9). The summit will gather African leaders, Japanese government officials, and global investors to discuss strategies for boosting trade, investment, and sustainable development across Africa.

While in Japan, President Tinubu is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and top Japanese business executives to explore investment opportunities in infrastructure, technology, energy, and manufacturing. The discussions are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s economic ties with Japan and attract new foreign direct investment.

After Japan, the President will proceed to Brazil, where he will participate in discussions aimed at enhancing Nigeria–Brazil relations, particularly in the areas of agriculture, energy cooperation, and cultural exchange.

The Presidency stated that the trip aligns with Tinubu’s economic diplomacy agenda, which focuses on attracting partnerships to drive industrialization, job creation, and infrastructure growth in Nigeria.

Several ministers and top government officials are accompanying the President, ensuring that sector-specific agreements and collaborations are effectively negotiated.

This marks another in a series of international trips aimed at positioning Nigeria as a key player in global economic and political discussions.
