Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has revealed the Nigerian politician he admires the most, naming the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as his favourite politician. The 79-year-old actor made the revelation during an interview with popular content creator Isbae U on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast. The interview, which was published on September 5, 2026, touched on several aspects of Edochie’s life, career, politics and his views about Nigeria. Although Pete Edochie stated that he is not a politician and does not consider himself interested in politics, he made an exception when asked about the Nigerian political figure he admired most. Tinubu Makes Fresh Demand As Tribunal Moves Petition Against President-Elect to Thursday

A report by Channels TV has it that the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has asked the presidential election tribunal to drop the petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging his election victory.

At the pre-hearing session on Tuesday, May 9, the APM informed the court that it had filed a pre-hearing information sheet TF 008, and had adopted the answers therein.

Counsel to Tinubu, Akin Olujimi, told the tribunal, that their response contains a prayer seeking the dismissal of the petition over claims of it lacking merit. 

The presidential election petitions tribunal, therefore, adjourned the pre-hearing till Thursday, May 11, Daily Trust report added. 

Chairman of the panel, Justice Haruna Tsamani, who adjourned the petition, asked parties to draw out the issues for determination, Premium Times report further confirmed. 

Chieftains of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) arrived at the tribunal on Tuesday, May 9, to know the fate of their candidate as the presidential election petition tribunal commences the day two hearing of the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar. 

In a post on the official Twitter page of the opposition party, the acting national chairman of the PDP, Amb Iliya Umar Damagum, the national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba and other party leaders were seated in the courtroom in Abuja.

From the photos shared by the PDP, officials representing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, were also present in the courtroom.

Dubai Jails Nigerian Lady For Filming Maltreatment, Family Kicks

A Nigerian woman, identified as @dunchichi on Twitter, has been reportedly sentenced to a one-year jail term by the United Arab Emirates government for a social media post, showing how some Nigerian nationals were illegally detained at Dubai international airport.  On August 31, Lar had taken to her  Twitter  page to share photos and videos of herself and other people she identified as Nigerians being detained at the Dubai international airport. The development marks a major move by Nigerian authorities to uphold data privacy and ensure organizations are held accountable for mishandling personal data. The NDPC’s investigation revealed that MultiChoice was involved in what it described as " intrusive data processing " practices. These included collecting and handling the personal data of both subscribers and non-subscribers without proper consent.
