PDP suspends ex-Abia Reps member, Abonta for alleged anti-party activities

The quick past part who addressed Ukwa East and Ukwa West Government Voting demographic, Hon Uzoma Nkem Abonta, under the foundation of the People groups Progressive alliance (PDP), has been suspended from the party. Nigeria revokes British businessman’s visa, residence and work permits over alleged racism

  The Minister of Interior, Abuja has revoked the Work Permit, Visa and Residence Permit of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seplat Energy Plc, Mr. Roger Brown, over allegations of racism, favouring of foreign workers and discrimination against Nigerian employees levelled against him by employees of the company. The federal government also accused Brown of being in possession of a Combined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC) not based on a valid Expatriate Quota. It was also alleged that Brown failed to honour invitations by the Ministry’s panel, which investigated the matter. The revocation was contained in a March 3, 2023, letter to the Board Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc    by the Minister of Internal Affairs, at the Federal High Court Lagos, where some concerned stakeholders, today, instituted a legal proceeding against Seplat in this respect. CBN Releases Operational Guidelines For Open Banking

  An operational guidelines for open banking in Nigeria has been released by the Central Bank.  The guidelines were conveyed in a circular signed by Musa Jimoh, Director of Payments System Management Department at the apex bank.  The CBN also stated that while it would provide and maintain an Open Banking Registry (OBR) for the industry, it will be a public repository for details of registered participants. The OBR would be maintained for the purpose of providing regulatory oversight on participants, enhancing transparency in the operations of open banking and ensuring that only registered institutions operate in the ecosystem. Most wanted Nigerian mafia woman leader who ran prostitution ring extradited to Italy (video)

  A Nigerian woman who has been wanted in Italy since 2010 has been flown from Abuja back to Rome, Italian police said in a  statement  on Wednesday , March 8 , 2023 . Joy Jeff, 48, was tried in absentia in 2010 and sentenced to 13 years in jail for criminal conspiracy, slavery, people trafficking and living off proceeds of prostitution.  The fugitive was one of the few women on Italy's most-wanted list, police said in the statement, describing her as a prominent figure in the Nigerian mafia. The extradition was facilitated by a treaty signed by Nigeria and Italy in 2020. She was arrested in Nigeria on June 4, 2022, on an international warrant issued by Italy, the statement said.  Italian investigators in the eastern city of Ancona said Jeff played a leading role in trafficking women to Italy, Spain and the Netherlands, where they were forced into prostitution by violence and threats. Afenifere rejects Tinubu’s victory, insists Peter Obi won

The Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere,  has rejected the emergence of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect, insisting that Labour party's Peter Obi won the election.  The group stated this in a statement signed and released by its National leader and Secretary General, Pa Ayo Adebanjo and Chief Sola Ebiseni,  after its Special General Meeting, held, at Isanya-Ogbo, Ogun State, on Tuesday, March 7. Appeal Court Grants INEC Permission To Reconfigure BVAS

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has granted permission to the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to reconfigure the Bimordal Voters Accreditation BVAS for the Saturday, March 11 governorship and state house of assembly elections. INEC had approached the court for permission to reconfigure the machines that were used for the February 25, 2023 presidential and National Assembly elections as the same machines are also to be used during the governorship elections. This was however objected to by the Labour party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who is contesting the outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.  In an application marked: CA/PEC/09m/23, Obi and the Labour party had sought permission from the court to be allowed to conduct a physical inspection of all the BVAS that were used for the presidential poll.  Obi and his party said the essence of the application was to enable them to extract data embedded in the BVAS, “which represent the actual re
