PDP suspends ex-Abia Reps member, Abonta for alleged anti-party activities

Aminu Adamu: Aisha Buhari Deactivates Twitter Account, Injury Worsens

  First Lady Aisha Buhari has deactivated her Twitter account amid outrage over the arrest of Aminu Adamu. The final year student of Environmental Management and Toxicology at the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, was taken from the campus on November 8. The 23-year-old is being detained without trial for his Twitter post on the President’s wife. “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi” (The mother has got fatter by eating masses’ money), he tweeted in June. The undergraduate made the comment four months into the eight-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Nigerians continue to drag Aisha, the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS)  over Aminu’s fate . Their anger grew after the revelation that her Aide-De-Camp, Usman Shugaba, allegedly coordinated the youth’s arrest and torture. NANS Gives Aisha Buhari Ultimatum To ‘Release’ Arrested Student

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) North-west chapter, on Tuesday issued a two-day ultimatum to the wife of the Nigerian President, Aisha Buhari, to ‘release’ a student, Aminu Adamu a final year student of Federal University, Dutse, in Jigawa State, who was arrested for allegedly ‘trolling’ her on Twitter. Aminu on June 9, tweeted a photo of Mrs Buhari with caption in Hausa which translates to: ''Mama is feeding fat with poor people's money'' The National Treasury of NANS representing Zone A, Bashir Limanchi, in a press conference in Jigawa said ''the student was arrested by the police on the university’s main campus in Dutse, the state capital, on 8 November at around 12 a.m. The student body condemned the arrest and detention of Aminu Adamu, who is a final year student of Environmental Management and Toxicology who is to starts his final examination on December 6, 2022''. ASUU Threatens Fresh Crisis Over ‘No Work No Pay’

Academic Staff Union of Nigeria Universities (ASUU) has on Monday 28 November, alerted Nigerians about a fresh crisis which will surpass all previous ones in Nigerian universities. It therefore called on stakeholders and well meaning Nigerians to prevail on the federal government to pay members across the country their withheld eight months salaries. The chairman of ASUU, University of Ilorin branch, Prof Moyosore Ajao, raised the alarm at a special congress of the local branch held at the university’s main auditorium. Spanish coastguard rescues three Nigerians under ship from Lagos

The Spanish coastguard has rescued three migrants stowed away on a ship that arrived in the Canary Islands from Nigeria. The large ship had departed from Lagos, Nigeria on November 17, according to ship-tracking website Marine Traffic, and the men were rescued on Monday. They were seen on the Alithini II oil tanker at the Las Palmas port, the men appeared to have symptoms of dehydration and hypothermia and were transferred to hospitals on the island for medical attention, Spain’s Salvamento Marítimo said. Throughout the journey, at least three migrants and refugees had been hanging onto the narrow metallic rudder, with their feet dangling just a few feet above the Atlantic Ocean. Alithini II, which is owned by Gardenia Shiptrade SA, is managed by Athens-based Astra Ship Management, according to public shipping database Equasis. London Museum Returns Looted Benin Artefacts To Nigeria (Photos)

Six artefacts looted by British troops 125 years ago from Benin City, in Nigeria, are being repatriated to their place of origin, increasing pressure on the  British  Museum   to follow suit. Recall that in August, the Horniman Museum and Gardens in Southeast London said it would transfer a collection 72 items to Nigerian Government.  According to them, the decision comes after Nigeria's National Commission for Museum  and monuments formally asked for artifacts to be returned earlier this year and following a consultation with community members, artist and school children in Nigeria and the UK, the Museum said. The Nigeria Army on Saturday, 26th November , 2022, conducted free medical service at Afaraukwu community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State. Afaraukwu is the country home of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The News Agency Of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the services rendered included consultation, laboratory Investigation, eye care, distribution of eyeglasses, and treated mosquito nets. Others were check up on diabetes, blood sugar, and blood pressure, voluntary HIV testing and counselling, provision of free drugs, and malaria prevention awareness, and treatment, among others.   The operatives of Bauchi State Police command  have arrested a 12-year-old boy for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old girl. This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Police Public Relation Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmad Wakil. He stated that the 12-year-old kidnapped the three-year-old in Magama Gumau community in Toro Local Government Area of the state. OPERATIVES of the Delta State Police Command, have apprehended five fake officials of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC in Asaba, following series of complaints from members of the public. The Ind igenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has on Friday 25th of November  disclosed  that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s prophecy of oil discovery in the  northern part of  Nigeria has been actualized. IPOB said the Nigerian government should sanction the actualization of Biafra  with the discovery of oil in the North. On Tuesday, the 22nd of November 2022, Buhari flagged off the commercial  production of crude oil and gas from the $3bn Kolmani Integrated Development  Project. Located along the fields of Gombe and Bauchi, the Kolmani project, with Oil  Prospecting Licence 809 and 810, lies in the Gongola Basin of the Upper Benue  Trough, straddling the two northern states. The field, according to its promoters, will produce about 50,000 barrels  of crude  oil per day and holds over one billion barrels of crude oil reserves,  shooting  up Nigeria’s oil reserves to over 38 billion barrels.
