PDP suspends ex-Abia Reps member, Abonta for alleged anti-party activities

Young Woman Allegedly Stoned To Death In Calabar

  The body of a young woman was discovered at the popular Eleven-Eleven roundabout in Calabar   She was found early on Friday, September 30.   It is believed she was stoned to death because injuries were visible all over her body and stones were beside the body.   Sympathisers gathered around the lifeless body as they tried to identify her.   Some policemen in a pickup van arrived at the scene at about 8 a.m.

A 35-year-old Nigerian man, Celestine Isele, who died five months after his wedding was laid to rest on Wednesday, September, 28, 2022 in Turkey.    Celestine and his wife, Gloria, got married in Imo State on April 23, 2022. He returned to Turkey after the wedding and died second week of September.

A claim that the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is sick has been debunked. During an interview on Friday, September 30, a chieftain of the APC, Ayo Oyalowo, said Tinubu is in the United Kingdom to rest. Oyalowo, during an Arise TV interview on Friday, disclosed that Tinubu has not been having enough rest since preparations for the ruling party's campaigns started, hence the need to leave Nigeria to take a break from work.  In the interview monitored by Daily Trust, Oyalowo said:  “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is in London. No Protest Is Allowed At Lekki Tollgate – Lagos Police

  The Lagos state police command has warned against any form at Lekki Toll Gate.    In a statement released on Friday September 30 by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command stated that while it is not averse to the peoples’ right to freedom of assembly and association, and expression, it would equally live up to its mandate of ensuring that no person or group of persons infringe on the fundamental human rights of others, especially the rights to freedom of movement and right to dignity of human persons, especially under the guise of rally or procession.   The statement read;    “It has become imperative to reemphasise that no form of rally whatsoever will be allowed at the Lekki Toll gate on October 1, 2022. “This emphasis has become necessary to enlighten Nigerians that might be misled into converging at the toll gate.   Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has banned tricycle and shuttle bus unions in the state. The governor also sacked touts operating in motor parks in the state. This was released by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr Paul Nwosu,  in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Thursday.  There was a heavy protest on Thursday and Friday last week by tricycle and bus operators in Awka, who had complained about the N15,000 and N20,000 monthly tax imposed on them by the government. But the state government in its reaction to the protest said the union and touts masquerading as revenue agents were misleading and overtaxing the operators. PHEDC confirms electrocution of staff while trying to disconnect power lines in Calabar

  The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC), has confirmed the electrocution of one of its members of staff in Calabar.   As luck would have it, the PHED staff survived.   The PHEDC staff was carrying out electrical works at Army Junction, on the Muritala Mohammed highway in Calabar, when he was electrocuted.   In a video trending online people gathered at the foot of the electric pole to watch the electrocuted officer who was motionless at the top of the pole.  Officials are then seen positioning two ladders which two electrical staff climbed to get to the injured official and carry him down.    Mr Collins Igwe, Regional Manager, PHEDC,  said the staff was taken to the Navy hospital for treatment.   He was revived at the hospital and has now been discharged.   A friend of the electrocuted electrical staff gave an update on Facebook. He said he has spoken to his friend and he sounds "strong" following his discharge from the hospital.

  Mustapha Bala Ali, son of Bala Ali Lukshi, a member representing Dass Local Government in the Bauchi State has been murdered after collecting ransom twice.   According to a source the kidnappers abducted Mustapha in Dass, and demanded millions of naira for his release. The lawmaker told Labari Daga Bauchi on Tuesday, that after paying ransom, the kidnappers told him where he will find his son.   "After reaching there, we could not find anyone. We were making phone calls with those people. They collected the money they asked me to bring, but later told me that I submitted the money late and I needed to add more," the lawmaker said although he did not reveal the amount paid.   "I was one day late ahead of their deadline because the money was not complete then. They threatened to kill the boy. At that point, I added another money for them as they requested,"  he said.   “The last time we spoke was eight days ago, and from then they were not specific in all their conv

Update: Security operatives rescue 2-week-old baby stolen from Bauchi hospital, arrest suspect

Security agents have rescued the 14 days old twin baby stolen from the maternity ward of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi State.    LIB  reported  that the baby, Ibrahim Mohammed, was stolen on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, by a woman who posed as a hospital staff.    According to the management of ATBUTH the baby was recovered on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.  Handing over the child to the mother, chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee of the ATBUTH, Dr Haruna Liman, said that the infant was stolen from the mother eight days after delivery.    "The baby was stolen on 21st September, 2022 by 4:30 pm from the mother who is receiving treatment in the hospital. The baby boy was rescued today being 27th of September around 1:00 am in good health and sound. We appreciate Allah and the effort put by the Internal security of the hospital, Department of Security Services (DSS) Police and other security agencies in recovering the baby," he said

DSS arrests soldier allegedly supplying weapons to bandits

  Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested a soldier attached to the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Tungan-Maje in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for allegedly hiring out and selling guns to kidnappers. The suspect was apprehended last week following an operation carried out around Dankogi Park in Zuba in cooperation with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in the area. The Security Operatives in the area told Daily Trust that DSS operatives from Gwagwalada office sought the assistance of the local security group in Zuba to arrest the suspect after he was accused of supplying arms by a suspected kidnapper in the security agency's custody. A Zimbabwean woman has confessed to lying against a man who has been in prison for eight years, serving a 20-year rape sentence.    Simbarashe Chadiwa was handed a 20-year sentence for the rape of a 10-year old minor. The “victim” now 18, came out clean after a string of misfortunes befell her and her family.    She said;    “That man never raped me but I was under so much pressure that I ended up wrongly implicating him. “That action has been haunting me daily such that I can no longer live with the fact that there is someone out there who is suffering for a crime that he never committed in the first place. The bandits who kidnapped Zainab Yusuf Mohammed and her two sisters in Kaduna State have threatened to kill them including her newborn baby if their family fails to pay N50m ransom in two days. Zainab,who was abducted with her two sisters at their family house in Lema community in Mando area of Kaduna, opposite the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on July 17, 2022, while taking care of their sick mother, gave birth in the kidnappers' den.
