PDP suspends ex-Abia Reps member, Abonta for alleged anti-party activities

Obi Tenders Additional 188 Exhibits Against Tinubu’s Election

  In his bid to establish his allegations of malpractices in the conduct of the February 25 presidential election, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the last election, Peter Gregory Obi on Tuesday, tendered additional 188 exhibits against the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the election. The exhibits, mainly results sheets and reports used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the election, were tendered at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) and admitted as exhibits to be used to determine the legality or otherwise of Tinubu’s return as the President. Obi, through Peter Afoba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, tendered forms EC40GPU, EC40G1 and reports prepared by the electoral body after the election. A breakdown showed that 45 EC40GPU forms were tendered in 10 Local Government Areas of Niger State, 23 in seven Local Government Areas of Osun, 17 in three Local Government Areas of Edo State and 52 EC40GPU forms in five Local Governm

While all 109 senators-elect will take the oath of office today, only 358 members-elect will do so in the lower chamber. This is because the member-elect for Jalingo federal constituency of Taraba State, Isam’ila Maihanchi, died in April while the Speaker of the 9th House, Femi Gbajabiamila, will be taking up a new appointment as the chief of staff to President Bola Tinubu. This means that INEC will have to conduct a by-election to fill the two seats. Udeze Emerges Speaker Of Anambra Assembly

  The member representing Ogbaru II Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, has emerged as the Speaker of the state assembly. Udeze emerged as the Speaker on Monday, after he was unanimously elected by the 30 members of the eighth Assembly at the State House of Assembly Complex in Awka, the Anambra State capital. He is a third-term member of the Assembly, who first became a member of the house on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in 2015, but later decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, under which he won re-election to the house in 2019. He also won the March 2023 House of Assembly elections under the PDP, which made him become a three-term member, but thereafter decamped back to APGA, a few days before the inauguration of the state Assembly.   Four Indigenous children who disappeared 40 days ago after surviving a small   plane crash  in the Amazon jungle were found alive Friday, Colombian authorities announced, ending an intense search that gripped the nation. The children were alone when searchers found them and are now receiving medical attention, President Gustavo Petro told reporters upon his return to Bogota from Cuba, where he signed a cease-fire agreement with representatives of the National Liberation Army rebel group. The president said the youngsters are an “example of survival” and predicted their saga “will remain in history.” No details were immediately released on how the youngsters managed to survive on their own for so many days.   Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has warned against petrol subsidy which he said is having a negative impact on the nation’s economy. BREAKING: Gate Collapses On Female Athlete At Opening Of 7th Nigerian Youth Games In Delta State

The pandemonium followed the sudden collapse of a gate to the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on a middle-aged woman said to be one of the athletes. There was turmoi l  on Saturday immediately after the commencement of the opening ceremony of the 7th National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, the Delta State capital. The bedlam followed the sudden collapse of a gate to the main bowl of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on a middle-aged woman said to be one of the athletes.
