Peter Obi Laments “Shocking Loss of Lives” Under Tinubu as U.S. Designates Nigeria a Country of Concern

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi , has once again raised alarm over the growing insecurity and loss of lives across Nigeria. His comments come shortly after the United States government placed Nigeria on its list of Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) —a designation reserved for nations where severe violations of human rights and religious freedom occur. In a strongly worded statement reported by Sahara Reporters on Monday, November 3, 2025 , Obi said Nigeria is currently facing one of the most troubling periods in its history, with “an unprecedented level of insecurity, shocking loss of lives, and destruction of property.” According to him, the crisis has worsened since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in May 2023 . Buhari writes Senate, seeks approval to pay N226bn, $556.8m, £98.5m judgement debts



PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate, seeking the approval of the request to pay the judgement debt in the sum of $566,754,584.31, £98,526,012.00 and N226,281,801,881.64 owed by the Federal government.


President Buhari’s request was contained in a letter read yesterday in Abuja by the  President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan.
