Since the orphanage’s inception, hundreds of girls have entered into marriage, but some women have shared their struggles with DAILY POST, expressing feelings of abandonment after their husbands divorced them. They often endure abuse and mistreatment, facing significant challenges in seeking help or reporting their situations. Enugu community celebrates Ekweremadu’s wife return from UK jail

Mpu people group in the Aninri Neighborhood Government Area of Enugu State emitted in celebration, on Wednesday, over the arrival of Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, spouse of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, from a Unified Realm jail.

Our reporter assembled that Mrs. Ekweremadu, who was condemned to five years in jail in May 2023 for her association in an organ dealing plot, got back to Nigeria on Tuesday.

She, her better half, and a clinical specialist, Dr Obinna Obeta, were sentenced by the UK court for their parts in a bombed plot to reap the kidney of a 21-year-old Lagos road broker.

The Ekweremadus were said to have tricked the youthful broker to the UK to reap one of his kidneys for their girl, Sonia, who was experiencing a kidney infection.

The young fellow, in any case, escaped in the UK and answered to the police, prompting the capture, preliminary and conviction of the Ekweremadus on May 5, 2023.

The court condemned Ekweremadu to nine years and eight months in jail; his better half, Beatrice, got four years and a half year term, while the clinical specialist who went about as a 'mediator' in the plot, Obeta, was condemned to 10 years and his clinical permit suspended.

During a local area wide festival on Wednessay, the Leader of Mpu Town Association United, Mr. Benjamin Chijioke, depicted Mrs Ekweremadu's return from the UK prison as a critical help for the whole local area.

“Our joy as Mpu people knows no bounds. This is a great day for us. Since morning, it has been jubilation and celebration across all the villages,” Chijioke said.

He noticed that numerous local area individuals, particularly the people who depended on the Ekweremadu family's magnanimity, were overpowered with bittersweet tears delight.

He added that the festivals matched with the local area's Orie market day, which transformed the commercial center into a center point of celebration.

“We thank God and pray that He intervenes so that our illustrious son and leader, distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu, will soon return home in good health,” Chijioke added. “Their absence has caused a significant setback for the community, but we remain hopeful.”

The councilor for Mpu Ward, Ogbuka Edwin, likewise offered thanks for Mrs. Ekweremadu's return, saying the shortfall of the Ekweremadus had made a hole locally.

“It feels like a public holiday here in Mpu. The news brought so much cheer. We will continue to pray until our leader and hero, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, rejoins his family,” Edwin said.

Virtual entertainment stages related with the Mpu people group have been overwhelmed with messages of festivity and petitions for Representative Ekweremadu's return.

One message read: “Daalu Ezinne! But I can’t wait until I see Ikeoha Global! The man who made me who I am politically—a builder of people and structures. New things will happen soon!”

Another stated: “May God’s name be praised now and always, Amen. It can only be God.”

Amidst the joy, another community member wrote: “Waoooi, good news! Thank you for everything. Dear mummy, you are highly, highly welcome, ma!”
