Global energy giant Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) , in collaboration with Sunlink Energies , has officially approved the development of a new $2 billion offshore gas project in Nigeria. This project, named the HI Gas Field Development , is a landmark step in reviving Nigeria’s oil and gas fortunes and a strong signal of renewed investor confidence in Africa’s largest energy producer. 🔹 A Bold Step in the Offshore Frontier The HI gas field, located in Oil Mining Lease (OML 144) roughly 50 kilometers offshore the Niger Delta coast, is expected to produce about 350 million standard cubic feet of gas per day at peak capacity. Ododo approves funds for WAEC, JAMB, other examinations

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has delivered N661 million for the installment of 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for SS3 Understudies in Government funded Schools across the State.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones in his office on Tuesday in Lokoja.

Eighteen Thousand 700 and 34 (18,734) has been selected to profit from the arrival of the asset.

He noticed that the past Adminisration of Governor Yahaya Bello endorsed into regulation the Kogi State Free Assessment, Enlistment Bill for Kogi State Understudies and Understudies in State funded Schools and Different Issues Associated therewith; and it has turned into the obligation of Government to pay for all the Inward and Outside Assessment Expenses for Understudies and Students in Open Essential and Optional Schools in the State.

The Commissioner said that the Public authority of Ahmed Usman Ododo has gone on in the heritages and establishment worked by His predecessors, making sense of that upon the drifting of 2024/2025 WAEC, the Service moved toward the Lead representative for installment of the Expenses and the proposition was thoughtfully endorsed.

Mr. Jones warned against principals, putting in names of non beneficiaries into the list, “We warn against ‘strange names” creeping into the register. This will endanger the scheme and rob those who are supposed to benefit from benefiting.”

The commissioner also said the state government has approved N522 million for the payment of Common Entrance and JSS3 examination for students in public schools,

“The state governor has approved for the payment of Common Entrance and First School Leaving Certificate of 25,100 students in primary school the sum of N145,476,984.

“Additionally, for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) the sum of N215,220,000 for 30,000 students; while the state also approved N181,719, 800 for JAMB form for 18,334 students in public schools.

“No students or pupils should pay any amounts for any of those examinations as everything has been covered, including administrative charges and passport photographs of the beneficiaries.

“So far, the state has approved the sum of N522,416,784 for Common Entrance, BECE, and JAMB. When added to the WAEC fund released, it amounts to N1,203,726,984 that the state has earmarked for examinations for students and pubils in public school.”

He said the reasons for such huge investment in education are to increase school enrolment, decrease dropouts, and guarantee high school completion.

“The intention of the State Government about the policy was to make life a bit easier for parents in the area of payment of WAEC and to address the issue of Out of School Children.”
