Jarvis Kneels to Greet Peller as He Declares: “I Won’t Divorce My Wife”
In a major breakthrough against transnational human trafficking, the Ondo State Police Command has rescued 40 Ghanaian nationals and arrested three key suspects believed to be masterminds of an international human trafficking ring. The operation, which took place in Akure, the state capital, was carried out by the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad following a credible intelligence report.
According to reports, the victims—mostly young men and women—were lured into Nigeria with promises of lucrative job offers and visa assistance to travel abroad, especially to Canada and other Western countries. Upon arrival, however, they found themselves stranded, their documents confiscated, and their movements restricted.
The three arrested suspects—identified as Hayford Nyamekye, Awine Alex, and Kojo Felix—are of Ghanaian origin and believed to be part of a larger trafficking syndicate operating across West Africa. Their arrest followed a collaborative investigation triggered by a petition submitted through Interpol's Nigerian liaison office.
Preliminary findings revealed that the victims were deceived with fraudulent travel promises and housed in substandard, concealed locations in Akure, awaiting further illegal migration processing. The victims are now in safe custody, while the suspects remain under interrogation as investigations continue.
Ondo State Police Commissioner, Abayomi Oladipo, confirmed that efforts are underway to locate additional accomplices, including property owners who provided safe havens for the traffickers. He reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling human trafficking networks in the region.
This disturbing incident has once again highlighted the need for vigilance, cross-border cooperation, and public awareness in tackling human trafficking. Authorities are working closely with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and Ghanaian officials to ensure proper rehabilitation and safe return of the victims.
As the investigation unfolds, Nigerians are urged to remain alert and report suspicious activities that may involve human exploitation or illegal migration.
