Title: Nigerian Oil and Gas Conference 2025: Pushing for Energy Security through Local Content
The recently concluded 24th Nigerian Oil and Gas (NOG) Conference and Exhibition held in Abuja has once again positioned Nigeria’s energy sector at the forefront of strategic discussions. Hosted at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, the week-long event brought together key players in the oil and gas industry under the theme: “Achieving Energy Security Through Local Content Implementation.”
The conference, organized by DMG Events and supported by the Federal Government, focused on advancing indigenous participation in Nigeria’s energy sector. One of the major highlights was the unveiling of the “Nigeria First” Procurement Policy by Engr. Felix Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB). This policy mandates that all oil and gas companies prioritize Nigerian products and services where local capacity exists, thus encouraging homegrown growth and reducing dependency on foreign input.
Industry leaders at the event defended the efforts of the NCDMB, highlighting the agency’s role in creating a stronger and more self-reliant industry. The Nigerian Content Seminar, one of the major sessions at the conference, showcased innovations and successes in local manufacturing, engineering, and fabrication that are gradually transforming Nigeria’s oil and gas ecosystem.
Notably, NCDMB aims to grow Nigerian content in the sector from 56% to 70% by 2027. Discussions during the conference pointed to significant achievements already made—from local production of industrial gear to offshore operations—all reinforcing the government’s vision for energy security.
The NOG 2025 conference wasn’t just another industry gathering—it was a bold declaration that Nigeria is ready to chart its path to energy independence. With collaborative policies, stakeholder buy-in, and increased investment in local capabilities, the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector looks promising and resilient.
By focusing on local solutions, Nigeria is laying the groundwork for a sustainable and prosperous energy future.
