CBN Announces Stricter Cash Withdrawal Rules Ahead of 2026: What Nigerians Must Know
In an inspiring story that’s capturing hearts nationwide, a 15-year-old Nigerian artist, Chidubem Eze, has shattered a Guinness World Record by creating the largest painting on canvas by an individual. What makes his achievement even more remarkable is that Chidubem is a young boy on the autism spectrum.
The monumental artwork, which spans over 60 square meters, took Chidubem more than a month to complete. Using bold colors and abstract forms, his painting tells a deeply emotional story about hope, unity, and African identity. The project was done at a community art space in Lagos, where several art therapists and volunteers supported the young talent through the process.
According to his mother, Chidubem started painting at age five. “Art became his voice when words were hard,” she said. Diagnosed with autism at a young age, Chidubem found peace and expression through painting, often drawing for hours to communicate his feelings.
Guinness World Records officials officially certified the piece earlier this week after conducting all the necessary measurements and documentation. The previous record was held by an artist in India.
The feat has sparked celebrations across Nigeria’s art and disability communities. The Minister of Arts and Culture praised Chidubem, calling him “a symbol of possibility and pride for Nigeria.” Many have also highlighted the importance of nurturing creativity in neurodivergent children.
The painting will be on exhibition in Abuja later this month before touring other African countries. International galleries have also expressed interest.
Chidubem’s success not only sets a new record—it redefines how society views children with autism. His journey proves that with the right support and environment, every child can shine beyond limitations.
