Anambra: Security operatives foil bullion van robbery

Insecurity in Nigeria is a recurring phenomenon that threatens the well-being of its citizens.

Nigeria is faced with an unprecedented wave of different but overlapping security crisis.

Our country has various types of insecurity currently, they include bodily insecurity, emotional insecurity, food insecurity, and environmental insecurity.

Infact, the top priorities of a nation or a state is being free from danger or threat. It begins with good protection and basic knowledge.

However, the road to success is often carved out with a healthy amount of confidence and high self esteem but if you feel burdened by being open to threat or danger, you may have trouble moving forward.

According to Oprah Winfrey, it is confidence in our bodies, minds, and spirit that allows us to keep looking for new adventures.

Lack of confidence and protection have caused a lot of havoc in our country Nigeria.

On Thursday,10th November 2022, some assailants attacked a bullion van in Ufuma Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State.

It was gathered that the assailants trailed the bullion van and its security operatives to rural community of Ufuma and opened fire on the truck and the security men accompanying it.

A source said, “It happened on Thursday at about 5pm, and there was serious shooting in the area.

“All the residents of the community fled while security operatives attached to the bullion van battled the armed robbers. The police were able to stop them from succeeding.”

Confirming the incident, the state police Spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said the event happened at about 4pm, but the armed men were eventually repelled.

Ikenga said a Lexus jeep and a highlander jeep belonging to the robbers were recovered, adding that items recovered included one empty magazine, defaced bullet proof vest, charms and some incriminating items.

“Operatives attached to the bullion van gallantly repelled the attack. The incident happen at about 4pm in Umunebo junction, Ufuma.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has since ordered immediate manhunt on the attackers. The operational vehicles belonging to the armed robbers have been recovered,” he added.

Federal Government needs to be proactive in resolving security issues and threats by modern methods intelligence.

Efforts to combat insecurity in Nigerian can only be effective if there is a solid combination of legislative and judicial interference with government reforms that address some serious human security challenges facing a large majority of the population.
