Regina Daniels Appears in Wheelchair as She Reveals Months of Severe Pain and Health Struggles
In a dramatic turn of events, Nigerian fugitive Abubakar Aboki Muhammed has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to face fraud charges in Abuja, Nigeria. The suspect is accused of defrauding an international businessman of over $307,500 (approximately ₦470 million) under the pretense of importing luxury vehicles from Dubai.
The case began in July 2023 when a formal complaint was lodged against Muhammed. The businessman claimed he had transferred the huge sum to an account supposedly meant for clearing and delivering 10 luxury vehicles. However, after receiving a forged bill of lading and no delivery, he realized it was a scam. Muhammed allegedly funneled the funds into a third-party account and vanished.
Following months of investigation and a Red Notice from INTERPOL, Muhammed was apprehended in Dubai on April 15, 2025. His extradition was facilitated by the Nigerian Police Force in collaboration with INTERPOL, the UAE authorities, and the Nigerian Consulate in Dubai. On May 23, 2025, he was flown back to Nigeria and has since been arraigned in a Federal High Court.
He faces a six-count charge including criminal breach of trust, forgery, money laundering, and obtaining money under false pretenses. The court has ordered his remand in Keffi Correctional Centre pending a bail hearing set for July 17, 2025.
This case highlights the growing trend of cross-border financial crimes and the need for robust international cooperation. It also signals a warning to fraudsters that no matter where they flee, justice can reach them. The Nigerian authorities have reassured the public of their commitment to fighting financial crime and ensuring offenders face the full weight of the law.
