Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has revealed the Nigerian politician he admires the most, naming the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as his favourite politician. The 79-year-old actor made the revelation during an interview with popular content creator Isbae U on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast. The interview, which was published on September 5, 2026, touched on several aspects of Edochie’s life, career, politics and his views about Nigeria. Although Pete Edochie stated that he is not a politician and does not consider himself interested in politics, he made an exception when asked about the Nigerian political figure he admired most. Supporters Of Peter Obi, ‘Obidients’ Defy Police, Stage Rally At Lekki

Thousands of supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi held a rally at the Lekki toll gate in defiance to the Police directive.

Many of the supporters were seen in mass numbers as they marched at the Lekki-Epe Expressway, chanting ‘Obi! Obidient!’

A supporter @Nkemchor shared images from the event, saying that police could not stop them.

“The police presence at Lekki did not stop youths from gathering. Very proud of this generation. If Lekki is your route join them!”

Another supporter @eklepatience also tweeted, “All we want is a genuine leader that’s ready to serve Nigerians we’re not asking for too much nah, just give us Peter Obi. Festac Lagos is Obidient.”

DAILY POST reported that the Lagos State Police Command on Friday issued a directive against organising any form of rallies at the Lekki Toll gate, referencing the subsisting court order that prohibited it.

The rally was held in other parts of Lagos, like Festac town, Surulere and the National Stadium.

Dubai Jails Nigerian Lady For Filming Maltreatment, Family Kicks

A Nigerian woman, identified as @dunchichi on Twitter, has been reportedly sentenced to a one-year jail term by the United Arab Emirates government for a social media post, showing how some Nigerian nationals were illegally detained at Dubai international airport.  On August 31, Lar had taken to her  Twitter  page to share photos and videos of herself and other people she identified as Nigerians being detained at the Dubai international airport. She wrote,  “I am at the Dubai international airport and myself and some tiger Nigerians with valid visas are being held in a room hours after arriving with no explanation and no information on what we can do. The development marks a major move by Nigerian authorities to uphold data privacy and ensure organizations are held accountable for mishandling personal data. The NDPC’s investigation revealed that MultiChoice was involved in what it described as " intrusive data processing " practices. These included collecting and handling the personal data of both subscribers and non-subscribers without proper consent.
