Human trafficking is a modern form of slavery involving illegal transport of individuals by force or deception for the purpose of labour, sexual exploitation or activities in which others benefit financially. The popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo is being hauled on social media for performing at a campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday November 8,2022. Mercy had baffled many Nigerians when she stormed the governorship campaign rally in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on Tuesday to perform as an artist. According to Channels TV, the 32-year-old singer who got married a few months ago, dazzled the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel; his wife, Martha; and thousands of other party loyalists in the state to her gospel songs. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Jos chapter has ordered its members to stay at home indefinitely.  Premium Times reports that that the ASUU branch made this known in a statement made signed by the branch chairperson, Professor Lazarus Maigoro.  The statement partly reads:  “One of the issues agreed at the meeting was that 50% of the backlog of eight months arrears of our withheld salaries will be paid to our members immediately but as at the time of writing this press release, only 17 days prorated October salary was paid to our members by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation. “Having stayed for about nine months running now, our members in the University of Jos considered this an insult to them by the Accountant Gereral of the Federation. “Is the Accountant Gencral of the Federation actually answerable to the Minister of Labour? Man Electrocuted While Destroying Campaign Billboard In Ibadan

A man identified as a member of Park Management System in Oyo State has been electrocuted while allegedly destroying a campaign billboard of one of the gubernatorial candidates in Oyo State. This happened along Challenge after Vanguard Chemist very close to Iyana Elewura in Ibadan.  According to a source, the man accidentally got electrocuted in an attempt to destroy the campaign banner of Chief Adebayo Adelabu again, the iron he was trying to use touched the high tension wire which resulted to his electrocution. An eyewitness, who begged not to be named, noted that the residents of the area had already warned the man against destruction of the campaign billboard. The source said, “We had cautioned him against destroying peoples’ properties around. “Suddenly, we saw him shaking, and no one could move closer to him as it is obvious that he had mistakenly touched the electric wire beside the billboard”. IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Takes Unbelievable Legal Action Against FG, Details Emerge
